SC OSHA Providing Assistance After Hurricane

Areas in South Carolina that have been affected by hurricane Matthew will be provided with assistance by their local Occupational Safety & Health Administration. SC OSHA will be providing free safety supplies to anyone aiding in the hurricane relief effort. The ultimate goal is to increase the safety of those working in dangerous conditions as they help recover from the damage.

SC OSHA is also providing safety education for anyone or situation they see that isn't up to federal OSHA standards. If you are part of the relief effort and need assistance or supplies please contact the SC OSHA office by calling (803) 896-7665.

Supplies that are being offered:

  • General PPE
  • Hearing Protection
  • Eye Protection
  • Gloves
  • Masks
  • Reflective Vests

There are many hazards that become present after a large storm such as hurricane Matthew. Any workers should remember the following tips:

  • Always evaluate areas for hazards before working.
  • Always use personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Always assume that power lines are live and active.
  • Always read user manuals before using small and large equipment.
